Suffolk County Council – Alcohol Peer Champions

We have been working closely with Turning Point to raise awareness of safer alcohol use in the Ipswich / Lowestoft communities through music and creative writing and connection with communities.

We have been training and supporting ‘Alcohol Peer Champions’ to promote the ‘Healthy Suffolk Alcohol Campaign‘ and carry safer alcohol use information to the general public in a way that is both entertaining and accessible, particularly with excluded and hard to reach people within the community.

Our participants have been busy and working hard creating music and verse, which is being showcased through our networks of open mics, workshops and events.

Our first series of sessions were held at The Royal Oak on Felixstowe Road in Ipswich, a lovely community venue with whom we are developing a strong working relationship and whose values align closely with ours. We have also been supporting the ‘Ipswich Sober Mic’ monthly sessions which are also held there. The Soundcloud clips below are examples of the work produced during this exciting project.
